Shirley is a focused individual; she understands the employment economy and the challenges that students face as learners of all ages. Her goal is to proactively engage DTI students and alumni in the task of bettering their resumes and professional presentation. She’s always ready to help students individually when they are finding their way in the job market or getting ready for interviews. The position represents a coalescence of her skills and experience. A longstanding member of the Society for Human Resource Management, Shirley has also served on the Board of Appeals and Tax Equalization in the Office of the County Assessor in Mower County, Minnesota, and she’s been an event and fundraising organizer for private schools and other organizations.
Most of Shirley’s professional life has been spent in managing workflows, including projects in business and the educational, media, and non-profit sectors. Because of her varied background, along with her management experience, she also brings marketing and fundraising expertise to her work with DTI.
She and her husband have raised five children, and are the proud grandparents of eleven. She is never without a cup of black coffee at hand; She and husband have been married for many years, and have made their life together in numerous states.
