Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of the universe in which there are far more galaxies than people.

There isn’t much that offers Edda Spinelli greater satisfaction than being able to help train the next generation of dialysis caregivers. The chance to instill the best technical skills and teach sound decision-making is part of what shapes her professional focus. Though she tries to keep life in perspective at all times, she takes her profession seriously.
For her, part of the fun of being a teacher is in helping a student reach an advanced understanding of kidney disease, and in knowing that compassionate support from a healthcare professional can empower a dialysis patient to take charge of his or her life and care plans. After all, she says, “It’s all about making a difference, one person at a time.”
Professional Standing she has been an instructor at DTI since 2010, and is currently working as a Regional Operations Director for Renal Research Institute, a division of Fresenius Medical Care North America. Previously, she was a Facility Administrator for Fresenius Medical Care, Center Director for Renal Advantage, Inc., and a Facility Administrator for DaVita. She was listed in Who’s Who of Professional Women, and is the author of Care of the Pregnant Patient for the National Kidney Foundation of Southern California. Her accomplishments also include serving as an official mentor for Fresenius, and as a computer super-user for various companies and government programs.
Areas of Scholarly Expertise and Interest after having been selected by her supervisor at Fresenius to become a mentor, Edda further developed her interest in passing on what she has learned to others. She has since served in multiple professional capacities in nephrology as a nurse and educator. She continues her own education through advanced training at Fresenius Medical Care, as well as through other educational opportunities.
Personal Pursuits: When you grow up on a farm surrounded by animals and the humans who care for them, as Edda did, it’s easy to find your way into healthcare. That’s exactly what she did, starting with training as an RN in her native Germany. She followed her American-born husband to the United States, and has called Orange County, California, her home since 1981.
She is always in the midst of multiple projects, both at home and at work, but still finds time to read, learn something new, and spend time with her family and friends — oh, and also with the family dogs, Mocha and Shiloh.
